Fun fact: I had to break up with an ex-boyfriend who was Mormon after he told me what Mormons do and believe in regards to weddings and marriage. The fact that we're both men made it seem even more ridiculous that he still wanted a Mormon wedding.
fuckyeahtopherHere’s my fun fact to go along with yours:
You are raised to believe that you want a Mormon wedding, that only a Mormon wedding is acceptable.
I hated the idea of a Mormon wedding. I knew the majority of my friends would not be able to go: most of my friends were non-Mormons. I knew my sister wouldn’t be able to go: she would be too young. I knew my wedding party would not be able to go: none of them were Mormon. I knew I wouldn’t be able to have an outdoor wedding. I knew I wouldn’t be able to wear a flattering dress. (I’m sorry, there’s only so much you can do with a wedding dress and Mormon clothing requirements.)
But I still said that I wanted one, because I had been told that I was supposed to want one.
