i've never been curious about what crazy shit mormons do... But that little snippet about how bizarre the pre-wedding ceremonies left me wanting more... What do they do?

The first ceremony is called “Washing and Anointing.”  In my opinion, it’s probably the most disturbing ceremony in the temple.

This ceremony is actually one of the only ceremonies that a woman can lead because the ceremony is broken into gender groups.  Men have the ceremony done by other men and women have the ceremony done by other women.  The first thing you have to do before you go to the ceremony site is strip naked.

That’s right, naked.  You are then given a “shield” to wear that resembles a poncho. (Covered on the front and back, but open on the sides.)  The ceremony is a symbolic washing of particular body parts with olive oil that symbolizes the cleaning of the spirit.

They would recite a prayer while touching you on our forehead, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, neck, shoulders, back, breasts (in-between), stomach, arms and hands, loins (just directly above), and legs and feet.

Many members have been inappropriately touched during this ceremony.  I, personally, have talked to many ex-Mormons who felt sexually violated after the ceremony.

The leading member would then help you dress into your new garments, which are sacred underwear.

There are more, but this one is the one that particularly bothers me.  It disturbs me that friends and family members have gone through this ceremony and can still say that they feel the temple is a holy place.
