You've every right to be bothered (and I feel for you), but the level of importance and ownership you have to the newsletter will determine your actions and how bothered you may be. My husband's mom's also mormon and does a yearly newsletter. I feel no connection to the newsletter and see it as a way for her to share her life, not as an expression of myself. Now you wanted to share this information. If this were me, I would call to tell them I was bothered, not that they were wrong.
